Picky Eater, Ahi Tuna

My son, who has been a picky eater for most of his (relatively short) life, has not historically been a big eater of fish. So, when we stopped by Hooked this morning, and he chose some Ahi Tuna, I didn't put a lot of thought into making sure we got a good-sized slab.

I sprinkled some cayenne and salt on the outside, warmed up some peppercorns in olive oil and butter, then seared all three sides (of a somewhat triangular portion) for between a minute and a minute and a half each, following this recipe.

It was delicious. I think the tuna had more to do with that than the preparation, which was fine, but mostly just let a really nice piece of fish show its quality.

Unfortunately for me, my son also really enjoyed it.

We each started with three pieces, I had another two, and then he had the rest, about another five or so.

Now I wish I'd gotten more tuna from Hooked.
