The Negroni

Negroni Yesterday, I bought some Campari (Wikipedia, Campari Group) so I could try a couple of Campari-related cocktails, with the Negroni at the top of the list.

Although a classic Negroni is equal parts gin, campari and sweet vermouth, Speakeasy Cocktails recommended 2oz gin to 0.75oz each of campari and sweet vermouth. I tried that.

Even then, and even with an extra-long stir, as recommended by Speakeasy to dilute the sweetness, the Negroni was a little too sweet for my taste. I suspect a classic Negroni would be sweeter still, although I suppose I should try it to be sure.

There are lots of other Campari cocktails, so I'll give some of them a try as well while I have the Campari in the house:

I'll let you know how it goes.
